Knitting

Justine Chenel

Justine learned how to knit at age 5 and has been knitting and designing ever since. She started teaching knitting to friends and family members a few years ago and her passion for sharing this craft with others has only grown.  Justine fell in love with alpaca as a fabulous yarn to knit, and alpacas as the unique and beautiful animals they are.  She uses both Suri and Huacaya alpaca in her custom designs for us – of course from our alpacas.  Sierra Rose Alpacas is proud to have Justine Chenel create, design and knit custom patterns for us and our clientele.  We are delighted and proud to carry exclusive Justine Chenel Designs.

Her unique designs sell as fast as we get them in!  She has a few of her creations displayed in the November / December issue of California Bountiful Magazine too!

Not only is Justine a Master Knitter, she is an excellent teacher too!

If you want to learn to knit, Justine can help you out!  If you want to take your knitting to the next level, she can help you with that too.  And if you are simply stuck on some aspect of your knitting project, drop in and meet Justine on the 1st Sunday of the month, when Sierra Rose Alpacas is open to the public, and she can help you out.  Fees apply and classes vary so check the calendar for current information.

If you are interested in hiring her to knit a custom item for you, please contact [email protected] or drop by the farm in the 1st Sunday of the month to pick out your alpaca yarn, and talk to Justine.

Originally from California, Justine has also lived in Germany and Australia, where she learned about knitting in other cultures as well as working with regional yarns. She and her husband, along with their dog, live in Grass Valley where they are pursuing their fiber arts and woodworking passions.

Lacy Scarf

Class cost: $70

In this class we will learn how to knit a beautiful and elegant lacy scarf that is a great accessory for spring and summer. This class will encompass stitches beyond knit and purl and teach you the skills needed to take your knitting to the next level! You will learn how to create basic lace with yarn-overs, and combine this with knit and purl stitches. You will also leave with the skills needed to fix mistakes, read patterns and charts, and finish your projects. We will put all of these techniques together to knit a scarf that features gorgeous lace details.

The exclusive pattern, designed by Justine Chenel, and the yarn needed to complete your project is already included in the class. Sierra Rose Alpacas will provide you with wonderful alpaca yarn made from their alpacas! The yarn, included in the class cost, is 80% alpaca, 20% soysilk.  The required supply list will be emailed to you upon signing up for the class.

Class size is limited, so enroll early! We require payment to reserve your place in the class, as soon as we process your payment, you are officially enrolled!
